Van Mahotsav at Maldha Primary School

NatureOps India Foundation had assisted to celebrate ‘Van Mahotsav’ at Maladha Primary School on 29th August 2019. This program was organized by Social Forestry Range, Mandvi, Surat. Van Mahotsav is an annual one week tree planting festival in India which is celebrated in the month of July by forest department of every state of India. It was started in the year 1950 by Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi by planting a tree at Rajghat, Delhi.

It was a great experience for organisation. As this program was held at primary school, the students were very excited to be a part of the program. School Principal had introduced everyone with each other in his welcome speech. Anandbhai Chaudhari, MLA of 157 Mandvi Constituency of Gujarat Legislative Assembly was the chief guest of the program. President of Mandvi Taluka Panchayat, retired principal of the school, Green Team Vadesiya were the other guests of the program.

The chief guest encouraged everyone to take care of trees and forest, especially to students. Forest officers pledged to all to protect the forests and briefed about how this program was started since 1950.

After this session, the chief guest, invited guests, students, school teachers and the forest officers did the plantation in school campus. NatureOps had explained how to do planting and take care of tree after plantation. NatureOps also explained importance of forest and biodiversity to students.
